Akhil Hemanth for AIA Atlanta Emerging Professionals Director
Empowering emerging professionals through shared knowledge, open learning, and authentic community.
Why I’m Running
Architecture evolves when knowledge is shared, not guarded. I’m running because I’ve seen how small, consistent gatherings — like the ones organized by AIA Savannah — can transform how emerging professionals connect and grow. Those evenings weren’t about programs or committees; they were about belonging.
As EP Director, I hope to bring that same energy to Atlanta — creating approachable spaces where learning, collaboration, and community come together. Whether it’s an ARE study night, a design conversation, a practical AI session, or even a casual Pickleball meet-up, the goal is simple: make growth feel natural and accessible for everyone.
Platform Pillars
Knowledge
We’ll explore approachable ways to learn — starting with small ARE study sessions and practical workshops on how AI can help architects and engineers work smarter.
Connection
Inspired by AIA Savannah, I’d love to help create regular EP gatherings — study nights, design conversations, informal hangouts, and yes, even a friendly Pickleball mixer — with consistency over scale.
Visibility
Spotlight sessions where emerging architects can share work and process — opportunities to present, be seen, and inspire peers without the pressure of a conference stage.
Innovation
In collaboration with chapters and local partners, we’ll pilot accessible sessions that bridge data, design, and sustainability — including demo nights with startups to see how tools can support creativity.

The best part of this work isn’t the title — it’s the people it brings together. If you’re studying for the ARE, curious about AI and design, or just want to connect with other architects finding their voice — there’s room here for you.
Architecture grows when we show up for each other.
My goal isn’t to reinvent AIA — it’s to make it feel like it belongs to all of us: the next generation of architects learning, experimenting, and building community together.
If that vision resonates, I’d be honored to earn your vote — and even more, to keep learning alongside you.
